What happens at your visit
- We talk first - your history, any concerns, anything you've noticed. You're never rushed at The Warm Smile.
- Comprehensive examination - teeth, gums, bite and jaw joint, with intra-oral photos so you can see what we see.
- X-rays where due - to catch hidden decay and check the jaws in detail (typically recommended every two years).
- Professional clean - plaque and tartar removed, including the spots brushing can't reach, then polished.
- Fluoride and your plan - protective fluoride application, then a clear, honest summary: what's healthy, what to watch, and what (if anything) needs treating - explained before anything is booked.
Why every six months matters
Most dental problems are silent until they're expensive. Decay between teeth, early gum inflammation and hairline cracks rarely hurt at first - a six-monthly visit catches them while treatment is simple. Regular cleans also remove the tartar that brushing physically cannot, protecting your gums long-term - and keeping your smile noticeably fresher.
Frequently asked questions
How often should I get a check-up and clean?
For most patients we recommend a check-up and clean every six months. Regular visits let us catch small issues before they become big (and expensive) ones - and keep your smile feeling fresh.
Does a professional clean hurt?
For most patients it's entirely comfortable. If there's significant build-up or your gums are inflamed, you may feel some sensitivity - tell us, and we'll adjust. Our team is known for a gentle touch; several of our Google reviews are specifically about how comfortable patients with dental anxiety felt here.
Why are regular cleans and check-ups important?
Regular check-ups and cleans are an important part of maintaining good oral health and preventing future dental problems. Our experienced dentists use advanced technology to detect and treat potential issues early, helping prevent the progression of dental problems.
What about X-rays?
An initial comprehensive examination includes intra-oral X-rays to search for hidden decay, plus full-mouth extra-oral X-rays to examine your jaws in greater detail and detect possible pathologies. X-rays let us get ahead of problems that would be impossible to detect otherwise - the recommendation is every two years.
Can the whole family come?
Absolutely - we're a family-focused practice and welcome patients of all ages, with a focus on long-term oral health. One location, one trusted team, everyone's check-ups sorted. We also speak English and Spanish.
